Boeing: No plans to sell Wichita plant

Boeing Co. spokesman Jarrod Bartlett said today he’s unaware of any current plans to sell the aircraft maker’s Integrated Defense Systems plant in Wichita

Bartlett made the statement after the issue came up in Boeing’s contract talks with Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, which represents 700 engineers at the plant.

The union has asked Boeing for information on any effort to sell or divest itself of the Wichita plant.

Speculation arose this week when the head of EADS — parent company of Europe’s Airbus — told reporters his company had canceled a major U.S. acquisition at the last minute. The executive, Louis Gallois, declined to identify the company.
