PC Fallout 3 Won’t Release with Mod Tools
fallout 3 is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year, but if you’re looking forward to it on the pc particularly to see what kind of mod community springs up around it, you’re affluent to be a little disappointed. in an interview with stone paper shotgun (via kotaku, pete hines, vice president of pr and marketing for bethesda, confirmed that there won’t be any mod tools in the pc version when the game launches.
“Folk probably took for granted that every time we make a game, there’s a mod tool. We explained to folk that it takes a lot of time and effort to get that tool ready for release, and it’s not on our schedule right now,” Hines explained. “We need to get the game done and out. It’s not to say we won’t do it. It’s that right now we have an enormous amount of work to do, for three platforms and all these different languages to get it out around the [world]. Right now, we can’t say definitively ‘there will be mod tools, and here is when viagra bestellen they’ll be out’. That work remains to be done.”
Disappointing, yes, but it seems like a simple and straightforward enough explanation. And yet, apparently some see a more sinister possibility behind the lack of mod tools, as Rock Paper Shotgun proceeded to ask Hines about one particular conspiracy theory: That Bethesda is purposefully trying to sabotage the mod community in order to put more value in paid-for downloadable content. Hines responds:
