Craig Charles Talks ?Red Dwarf’ Movie

I’m guessing there’ll be a split amongst the people reading this between those who not only know what Red Dwarf is but love it to bits, and those, probably non-Brits who haven’t a clue what I’m about to witter on about. Those of you in the latter group should educate yourself forthwith about one of the best sci-fi programmes ever made.
Red Dwarf has so far run for eight seasons, and the comedy sci-fi show has gained quite a cult following from all corners of the globe. Unfortunately, there has never been a movie version, even though there has been intense speculation over the years of one being made.
The original cast has recently come back together for a special one-off episode on the Dave cable channel, and that reunion has lead to new calls for a movie. Craig Charles, who plays Dave Lister (pictured) on the show, told Digital Spy:
“It came really, really close. It’s one of those things, though. It feels like another lifetime now.”
“Never say never - if this special goes well, you never know what could come of it.”
Personally, I would really love to see a Red Dwarf movie. The television show is brilliant, and still has some life left in it. And it seems made for being turned into a movie. I do think it needs to be made sooner rather than later though, partly because the cast aren’t getting younger and partly because waiting any longer risks people stopping caring.
