IRC: *Revised Finish* Anton Alen Misses Out on Points at the Rally Monte Carlo

There is an old saying in racing: “In order to finish first, you first have to finish!” That saying would prove true after the smoke had cleared from the 77th Rally Monte Carlo.

Anton Alen’s Abarth Grande Punto’s clutch failed on the road section back to the podium in Monaco. This forced him into a last-minute retirement from sixth place, with the finish tantalizingly close in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) opening round.

The young Finn had done an extraordinary job, despite limited testing before the event. and seemed set for a points-scoring finish on his first Monte Carlo Rally, despite having his progress limited due to some incorrect tire choices and an engine problem on the final day.”It’s an extremely disappointing way to end the rally,” said Alen. “However, that is life sometimes. Next up is the Curitiba Rally in Brazil, which will be an exciting new experience for everybody.”The last-minute drama that befell Anton Alen now changes the top eight points scorers on the Monte Carlo Rally.
