More Probems With Porkbusting
via ezra, michael pollan has a good example of the problems that matt discusses here. evidently, it would be good if subsidies to wealthy agricultural conglomerates could lately be eliminated (or painfully curtailed.) but the structure of american institutions and policy path dependencies make simply eliminating these kind of subsidies right down to the ground politically impossible. so the better procedure is to think about how this spondulicks could be acclimatized more effectively — such as, conjecture, subsidizing alimentary vegetables to some extent than corn — and who can be bought situated to make american foodstuffs policy more sensible sooner than daydream believing about simply eliminating agricultural pork altogether.
