To Wash or Not to Wash …

I have always been a girl who washes my hair EVERY day. Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s not like those eighties movies, like Can’t Buy Me Love, when Ronnie is calling Cindy to apologize for his mistake and the mother says “she’s washing her hair” and he replies “she washed it yesterday!” as if washing your hair two days in a row was absurd. I never understood that comment (I was only 10 when the movie came out though - so, maybe I was just too young).
That being said, in the name of beauty and this blog, I decided to take on an experiment. I did the impossible - not washing my hair for at least 2 days. I originally cringed at the idea of it …
Sidenote: Just so you know, I have long hair - straight with no wave but tonnes of kinks and flips that I never bother to flatiron out. I rarely use hair product and usually leave my hair loose. Regarding my daily routine, I do pre-natal yoga 5 days a week and chase around my 4 year old. I spend about 2 hours a day braving the outside elements, so my skin and hair’s exposure to wind, rain, sun, and daily smog is minimal.
Sunday evening: I gave my hair a good wash and let it air dry before turning in for the night. No products.
Monday morning: Shower cap in place, I had a nice quick shower. After I got out, I ran a brush through my hair, parted it, and left it for the day. Again, I didn’t use any product but didn’t need to because I got some sexy volume just from sleeping on it and getting bedhead.

Tuesday morning: True to my blog, I threw on my shower cap, and showered without using my precious shampoo and conditioner. My hair was still in good shape and had some great shine, but it felt a little flat. I applied some texturizing cialis kaufen cream to the root and fluffed it up a little. I had two styles for second-day hair: long and loose or tamed back into a messy bun with a cute headband. The headband makes a difference.
Wednesday morning: I decided to wait until evening to wash my hair. So this was a bit of challenge. By now, my hair felt like it was being neglected but it wasn’t completely out of control. All I can say is thank goodness ponytails have become “chic”. I took some Chaotic Moulding Putty and applied it to the roots, especially at the crown. I teased the roots around the crown and towards the front of the hair, bringing it up and back for a high ponytail with a bit of pouf at the front. Sometimes I dressed it up with a headband. Especially if I felt my hair looked a bit too oily.
And on Wednesday night … I gave my hair a good wash …
So the verdict? Honestly … my hair has never looked better. The flippy ends lay flat. The kinks are gone. My hair doesn’t seem dry and in fact, it is silkier and smoother. The natural oils that I let build up and brushed out down towards the ends of my hair every day actually conditioned my locks giving me shiny and bouncy hair. Styling wise, my hair became more manageable and responsive to teasing and twisting and I had natural, unassisted volume. Last but not least, my messy updos and casual ponytails looked more runway than, well, messy and casual. 
If you are a hair washing junkie like me … trust me … this is something you should try at least once to see if your hair changes in anyway. Am I going to go back to washing my hair everyday? Yes, I probably will because I have a mild case of OCD but believe me, if my hair starts to get flippy and flat again … I might just have to change my ways.
