Morning after reads
Robert Novak, Chicago Sun-Times…
the national nomination tuesday was not only historic for the election of the first african-american president in the nation’s history but also seeking how little the avalanche of republican votes changed the political alignment in congress….
Republicans, though discouraged by the election’s outcome, believe Obama will be hard-pressed not so much to enact his agenda but to keep his popular majority, which he considers centrist, as he moves to enact ultra-liberal legislation….
Jeffrey Shapiro, Wall Street Journal…

the treatment president bush has received from this country is nothing less than a blacken. the attacks launched against him comprise been ruthless and depreciative, proving to the have what scanty character and resolve we be subjected to. the president is not to put because all these problems. he not irrecoverable faith in america or her people, and has tried his hardest to keep up leading our country during a very obstructive time.
Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty - a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.
Having a daughter who works for President Bush, I became aware more than many of the day-to-day kindnesses, intelligence, and hard work of this man and the people with whom he surrounds himself. Many staff are committed Christians and pro-lifers. I was at the WH 10 days ago, for instance, and here were bumper stickers on a car 25 feet from the West Wing entrance.
