Michael Steele for RNC Chair

Michael Steele announced on confirmed his decision with Chris Cillizza, Hot Air reports, after which he appeared on Hannity & Colmes to discuss it.

If the Republican Party wants to become more inclusive, if it wants to be able to win over centrists and moderates, if it wants to convince minorities that they too are welcome in the party, if it wants to show that it understands the lesson of this year’s election, it would be very wise to choose Steele as its new leader.

Steele embraces and believes in conservative principles, both on a ‘gut-level’ and on an intellectual level. He is articulate and able to represent himself and his party very well. I agree with what Sean Hannity said on the show (watch the video below) that Steele is “the person for the job” who has “the passion” a candidate for the RNC needs.

Newt Gingrich is a valued intellectual conservative but he is not a new voice, nor will he be a new leader if he would become the chair of the RNC. Gingrich was what the Republican Party needed in the early and mid 1990s. It is now 2008. Get Steele in there, let him help reform the party, and bring it back to greatness.
