Movable Type Monday: Clean Sweep, RF2CF and MTOS Translations
last week saw the release of some frightening plugins (one that has been long-awaited by the community) as well as a stylish beta release for the next variation of movable type and lively discussion on the mtos mailing lists, conspicuously in area of translations. welcome to movable type monday! mtos community updates cleansweep: early pattern week, byrne reese [1] released an update [2] to his clean sweep [3] - a plugin that sounds like a must be subjected to an eye to almost every blogger. in his own words: clean clearance is a plugin i released in conjunction with movable type 4.0 to help users keep urls and permalinks valid on their web site even after a major change to your url structure. the plugin worked by tracking broken links on your trap site and allowing you to create rewrite rules within movable exemplar for those broken links. in his pronouncement entry [4], byrne talks about how clean sweep helped him govern his place along with the new features in the latest version (including mapping time-honoured mt url formats to knew ones). rf2cf: chad everett [5] of everitz consulting [6] released a long awaited update to his rf2cf plugin which allows people who use the right fields plugin [7] to upgrade to mtos 4.x with its built-in finances for custom fields (via the commercial pack). the latest version of the plugin includes support on migrating rightfields users who used custom sql datasources and interfile upload fields as well as makes the whole process a lot more unwavering and reliable. the response [8] he received to the plugin on the mtos-dev mailing catalogue raisonn? shows how much this plugin was needed and removes one of the form remaining hurdles people had payment embracing mtos 4.x! polish, russian and italian translations: there was a tremendous amount of operation on the mtos-translators mailing list with patryk ?ciborek onset function on a gloss refine translation [9] and mirco macrelli updating his italian translation [10]. alex demidov also linked to the russian translation now found on google code [11]. screencasts of the translation in energy can be found on movabletype.ru [12], where the fail of the russian translation project, andrey serebryakov [13], blogs about transferable type and the russian community. on mt feed support: following a lively debate on the mtos-dev mailing list, tim appnel [14] posted a follow-up [15] on why the decision to only take measures an atom silage by oversight from he next version of mtos was a wise judgement. mtos beta test updates beta 5: beta 5 [16] was released early last week and according to byrne reese, movable transcribe product manager, should be the last beta release. release candidates should set out on to appear starting this week! perusing the changelog [17], the most exciting change with this beta is the integration of widget manager. widgets are now just another type of pattern! as a result, you can now have global widgets too (i.e. a everyday set of widgets that can be used on every blog on the system). generating a changelog: byrne reese also documented the process [18] of creating a changelog from the code repository on the mtos wiki [19]. this is extremely useful when you’ve checked something out directly from the repository (rather than downloading ditty of the official beta releases) and want to get a list of changes since the last occasion you updated [1] http://majordojo.com/ [2] http://www.majordojo.com/2008/05/automagic-url-redirection-and-seo-maximization-in-changeable-ty.php [3] http://www.majordojo.com/projects/clean-sweep.php [4] http://www.majordojo.com/2008/05/automagic-url-redirection-and-seo-maximization-in-variable-ty.php [5] http://everitz.com/ [6] http://everitz.com/ [7] http://www.staggernation.com/mtplugins/rightfields/ [8] http://www.sixapart.com/pipermail/mtos-dev/2008-may/001274.html [9] http://www.sixapart.com/pipermail/mtos-translators/2008-may/thread.html#11 [10] http://www.sixapart.com/pipermail/mtos-dev/2008-may/001257.html [11] http://code.google.com/p/movabletype/ [12] http://movabletype.ru [13] http://movable-genus.ru/ [14] http://appnel.com/ [15] http://appnel.com/code/log/2008/05/on-mt-feed-support [16] http://www.movabletype.org/downloads/betas/mtos-4.15b5b-en.zip [17] http://www.movabletype.org/beta/415/mt_415_beta_5_change_log.html [18] http://wiki.movabletype.org/documentation:how_to_create_a_movable_type_change_log [19] http://wiki.movabletype.org/
