Blowback: Is 24: Redemption Worth the Wait?

It’s been off the air for 18 months since its disappointing season six finale. Finally back on the air, 24 hopes to make up for lost time with Sunday’s two-hour telecast 24: Redemption (8 p.m. EST on Fox).
Disrupted by the writers’ strike and the incarceration of its Emmy-winning star Kiefer Sutherland, 24’s new season launches in January. To set the stage for those shows, Redemption finds Sutherland’s Jack Bauer (pictured) on the lam after going too far in his fight against terror as an agent for the now-disbanded CTU operation. He winds up in the fictitious African nation of Sangala, tangling with a psychotic dictator determined to recruit child soldiers.
Does the change of scenery work? When new episodes start airing on Jan. 11, will you be stoked for a re-booted 24 world where the bad guys, for a change, do the torturing? What’s your take?
Weigh in below.
