Police: Family dead in Ohio, likely murder suicide
A police official says a couple and their two children found dead in a suburban Columbus home are likely the victims of a murder-suicide.
Whitehall police would not say how the man, woman and children, ages 8 and 5, died and did not release their names. The children were home from school Wednesday for a snow day.
Sgt. Daniel Kelso says the deaths have “the markings of a murder-suicide” in a low-crime area to the northwest of Columbus.
A neighbor says the father recently lost his job, and investigators say that may have been a factor in the deaths.
They come a day after police in Wilmington, Calif., found the bodies of a couple and their five children in their home. The father was in debt and had recently been fired from his job and police say he killed his family and himself.
