This is the seventh installment in what may or may not be a complete collection of all 30 NBA teams Win Profiles at or near the All-Star break. The subject of the moment is the vastly improved Portland Trailblazers.

Notes on the TrailBlazers

1. I have Portland projected for between 50 and 52 wins. They should give Denver a run for the division championship, and will be a factor to deal with in the play-offs.

2. The Blazers are one of the NBA’s most improved teams. A look at the Win Profile I did for them at the end of last season (when they projected as a 39.5 win team and finished with 41 wins) partially reveals the causes for their surge.

3. The Blazers are getting even better play this season from Brandon Roy. His Total Win Contribution has gone up to +0.276 from +0.189 last season. They have also gotten the same sort of boost in production from Joel Pryzbilla (+0.141 to +0.279). They are also getting better play, to a lesser degree, from Steve Blake (-0.115 to +0.010), LaMarcus Alridge (+0.027 to +0,044) and Travis Outlaw (-0.180 to -0.086), and Sergio Rodriguez (-0.074 to -0.019).

4. Next you have to mention the outstanding contributions from all of their rookies except for Jarred Bayless. Together, Rudy Fernandez, Nicolas Batum, and Greg Oden are slated to provide the Blazers with a combined +5.0 games over the .500 mark. You can’t normally expect such terrific contributions from rookies.

5. Finally, there was a bit of a positive substitution effect the team received from the injury to Martell Webster (last season he was a -0.107). Not having his negative Total achat cialis Win Contribution has helped somewhat to boost the team’s fortunes.
