Anthony M. Pasqualone will serve as this year’s grand marshal for the Milford Veterans Day parade tomorrow.
The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from the Stop & Shop plaza.The parade will then proceed down Rte. 16 to Draper Memorial Park across from the police station, with a brief ceremony at the Doughboy Monument in Calzone Park.
Pasqualone was a 1967 graduate of Milford High School and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with an associate’s degree in civil and highway engineering.
He joined the U.S. Navy Seabees and volunteered for a tour of duty in Vietnam with a civic action team. He joined the Massachusetts National Guard as a medic, and served from 1972 to 1974. He graduated from Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing and from St. Joseph’s college in Maine, with a BSPA in hospital administration.
He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps in 1981. Pasqualone graduated with a master’s degree in nursing/nursing practitioner in 1996 after which he served a tour of duty in Kuwait in 2002, and in Iraq, 2006-2007. He was promoted to colonel in 2007.
Pasqualone works at MIT as an orthopedic nurse practitioner. He will retire from the military in January 2009 with 33 1/2 years of service.
The line of march for the Milford Veterans Day parade consists of: Grand Marshal Anthony M. Pasqualone; Division I - Milford Board of Selectmen, state Rep. John Fernandes, Chief Thomas O’Loughlin and the Milford Police Department, Chief John Touhey and the Milford Fire Department, Officer Tiernan and Police Explorers Post 29, Veterans Agent John A. Pilla; Division II - Cmdr. Joe Guidi of the Italian American War Veterans Post 40 and members, Montgomery Lodge of Masons, Milford High School Band and Director Nadine Pomeroy, Boy Scouts with leaders and parents; Division III - Lawrence J. Heron D.A.V. Comdr. Ray Richards and members, Panagian-Ohanessian Post Cmdr. Joseph Derderian and members, Girl Scouts with leaders and parents, Milford Middle School band and Director Jason Samiago; Division IV - American Legion St. Powers Post 59 Cmmdr. Ralph Boccasile and members, American Legion Auxiliary President Mary E. Morgan and members, Milford Youth Center members and Director Art Morin, Nipmuc Regional Vocational School Band and Director Henry Morel.
