NY Comic Con: Splatterhouse Panel

Annie get your gun

Today was the start of the 3rd annual New York Comic Con, and Namco Bandai used the opportunity to offer up some new info on their upcoming “reboot” of the 16-bit horror classic Splatterhouse. While they didn’t have a playable version on the show floor, they did hold a Comic Con Panel download sci-fi movies to discuss the game. The panel consisted of several key members from the development team as well as a rep from Warner Bros Music, who was there on behalf of the heavy metal group Mastadon (their music is heavily featured in the game).

Anyway, the panel began with a new trailer for the game — it was a quick trailer, but effective enough to get everyone in the room excited to see Rick and company again. The game, as I mentioned and you probably already knew, is a reboot of the series, so the download horror movie storyline will closely follow that of the original game from the Turbo Grafx system. You play as Rick, who, with girlfriend Jennifer, arrives at a mysterious mansion. Once there, Jennifer goes missing and Rick looks to seek revenge for the people who did this to her. He puts on the evil mask and turns into the crazed lunatic we all recognize.
