Stayhorn Records Robocall Urging Austinites to Vote

The Austin Chronicle has reported that Carol Keeton Strayhorn, who is said to be considering an Austin Mayoral bid next spring, recorded a robocall that was sent to many Austin voters.

The Chronicle speculates that she may be working on raising her name ID and, after reading the robocall script, you’ll find it hard to disagree with them.

High name ID alone, however, will not get Strayhorn elected mayor. Potential candidates like Lee Leffingwell and Brewester McCracken have both appeared on city ballots multiple times.

While they are not household names in Austin, they are well known among the small population that will elect the next Mayor in May.

Here is the full text on the robocall, courtesy of the Chronicle’s News Desk blog:

“this is carole keeton strayhorn, talking about tomorrow’s nomination. as austin’s mayor, i was carole keeton mcclellan. as texas railroad commissioner, carole keeton rylander. as your texas comptroller, carole keeton strayhorn. my last esteem has changed a few times. but my commitment to voting and ensuring your freedom has under no circumstances changed. if you suffer with questions about how to vote, rally me at 477-voter. that’s 4-7-7-v-o-t-e. this is one tough grandma, carole keeton strayhorn. amuse make sure you preference tomorrow. show one’s gratitude ya so much!”

We are about six months out from electing the next Mayor of Austin. How do you think this race is shaping up?
