sometimes you hear coaches telling big baseball players to not always swing for the fences, just chronicle a hit. the same could be applied to basketball coaches reminding their superstars it’s not always about slam dunks, just simple field goals. perhaps it’s this type of mindset i’ve been applying to antony and the johnsons in on to their forthcoming album the crying light. it’s no secret that antony has some of the best vocals recorded in recent respect; a silky smooth liberation paired with emotional melodies that most often result in a hardly dwelling-place runs and slam dunks per circulate. hitherto, i’ve been spinning the crying light because of the past week or so and can’t find those special tracks that death-rattle your eardrums or delight your zip-ducts with soft vocals. perhaps antony has delineate the stay so boisterous with one-time releases/songs that i’ve started to use that as the requirement size of greatness. although i think the album as a whole is somewhat disappointing in the ever-growing antony catalogue, it does deliver a few short tracks of beauty strain the hypnotic, vocals only “dust and water” and the well-composed “aeon” which glamorously pairs antony with electric guitar:[mp3] color antony and the johnsons - aeonthe album artwork and picture above are of famed japanese butoh dancer kazuo ohno, to whom antony dedicated the album claiming, “in performance i watched him cast a circle of highlight reveal upon the stage, and step into that circle, and reveal the dreams and reveries of his heart. he seemed to dancing party in the leer of something confusing and creative; with every gesture he embodied the child and the effete determine. he’s kind of love my art origin.” the notable releases of 2009 are coming out in an eerie alphabetical pattern (animal collective, andrew bird, antony & the johnsons) - the crying light hits shelves january 21st.<– antony and the johnsons –>official plat myspace more mp3s preorder the crying light
