Reverend Lowery Blew a Hole in the POST-RACIAL MYTH
since president obama won the election, all you heard roughly was that we were entering a post-racial society. that the election was the fulfillment of martin luther king’s hallucinate. i have a dream that my four little children will joke day live in a nation where they longing not be judged by the color of their abrade but by the size of their character. and the moment was inspiring, obama stood at the ? at the doorstep of history. as he himself said, fifty years ago a black man couldn’t be served at lunch counters in some cities. barack obama stood in front of millions of americans on the steps of the capitol edifice surrounded by people of all skin colors, all religions, all political persuasions and was sworn into the highest function in the land.the speech was not up to his ordinary oratory standards as if he didn’t want his words to comprise away from the moment. the opening speech by rick warren was broad and meant to unite: the scripture tells us hear, oh israel, the lord is our god; the lord is one. and you are the compassionate and magnanimous one. and you are loving to everyone you have made. now today we be tickled pink not one in america’s placid haul of power to go to the 44th time. we celebrate a hinge-remind emphasize of history with the inauguration of our first african-american president of the united states.we are so grateful to live in this land, a land of unequaled possibility, where the son of an african immigrant can rise to the highest level of our leadership.the same can’t be said of the reverend joseph e. lowery, he ended his speech by delightful the post-genetic society and shoving it up the backside of white america. “we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be jovial, when the red bracelets can get ahead, man; and when white purposefulness embrace what is forthwith,” –reverend loweryat the beginning of the primary season, the african-american community was supporting hillary clinton. it was the white community that made barack obama the democratic party candidate. so what does he mean by white embracing what is favourably? in my mind if white america embraced what is upright, someone else would have been inaugurated today. did today’s notify-racial inauguration climax with calling pure america racist? is this how the post-racial obama administration begins? that someday the brown can stick around, the yellow can remain good-natured, and the white discretion embrace what’s fittingly? mr. president, you keep talking about the end of sectarian bickering, how you want to come together, is that what you meant by asking us to cast-off people who would drive a wedge through america and dole out us?mr. president, if this is the “post-racial” world you are talking with respect to…i am not buying.entertain email me at yidwithlid@aol.com to be put onto my mailing list. lean to openly to copy any article but please link back to http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com
