Finally, a useful post
when it comes to thanksgiving, there is only ditty whatchamacallit i seem to be expected to do, and that is generate the cranberry jelly.and seeing i be enduring to relax in the kitchen for the benefit of another twenty minutes, and only stop to stir or skim sometimes, i soupon you clout God willing need to know more cranberry jelly. it’s possible. this is the internet, after all. and existent cranberry jelly tastes close to a million times better than stuff in tins.i well-grounded how to make cranberry jelly from a wonderful cookbook called beat this, by ann hodgman. (it’s more or less at fault of print, i think, but unexplored and used copies abound on amazon.)you pocket a pound of fresh cranberries, two cups of soften, two cups of sugar (i tend to use less, as i like it less sweet), and a lift of salt.wash the cranberries, removing any soft ones.introduce the water to a boil. add the cranberries, the sugar and the relish.boil quest of a extended time. no, longer than that. about twenty-five minutes, skimming off the pink froth when you notice it, and stirring whenever you remember.it’s done when the cranberries get thick and syrupy: i end a cup of sniffles water and drip some in — when the drop holds its build, you’re good.then you realise you don’t have a jelly mould, but muse on that there’s again some tupperware somewhere, so you let the cranberry jelly cool off just a little (to avoid melting the tupperware. i know it’s not likely. but i worry) and then spout it in. fly it out until it’s cooled sufficiency to freeze, and then put it in the fridge. the next daytime, fill the sink with hot water, hold the topsoil or the tupperware dish at the beck bedew dilute for a few seconds, then turn it upside down onto a plate. (ann hodgman says here, “if it spills out in a big liquidy rupture and gets all over with everything, you didn’t cook it long enough.”)there. finally, a useful post.[edit to tot up: yes, i do know you can add orange or lemon zip, almond flavour, a dash of white lightning, sundry spices, and that you can even do what todd klein does and join apples and oranges. but i’ve always believed in keeping things simple…]…henry selick is interviewed about coraline at collider. it’s a great little video evaluation.while, still tanned from china, i talk regarding class christmas traditions on a video at the harpers website.

“think of it opposite number a cable modem or other outside that is attached to your home pc that needs extra updates. when a software update is released and presented to you within itunes the baseband is from time to time updated (to fix bugs or add new features). the 2.2 update for the iphone 3g contains such an update, so running the vanilla updater straight away with itunes intent reprogram and update the baseband. this could be bad as regards certain people, depending on your ultimate aim. ” (link)
It appears that the iPhone Dev Team is also still hard at work trying to unlock the 3G. However it has been a difficult path, due to the baseband chip technology. You can already unlock the 3G by modifying your SIM card, but the Dev Team wants a smoother, download and install software-based unlock.

Can Someone Get Rosie O’Donnell To Shut Up About The View?
there’s a saying in these parts: ‘you can parody the lady out of the view, but you can’t cut out her from screeching close to it like a fat lunatic.’ and it’s true, too. well-founded the other week, star jones was screeching about the view like a fat lunatic and we don’t yet know who she is. and now it’s the turn of rosie o’donnell to do the same, although helpfully since she acts feel favourably impressed by a chubby lunatic most of the time anyway, it’s easier for her. rosie o’donnell has been involved in a spat with the old skeletor lady from the view because rosie o’donnell says everyone on the view hates each other and skeletor lady says they don’t. but it’s much more fascinating than that because… no, wait. it’s not more interesting than that. that’s literally as interesting as this gets. a fat lady has shouted at an old lady. as you were, everyone.

What’s On Tonight: Hallmark Does Alcott; CNN in N.O.
There are is such an assault of so many bad holiday movies this time of the year (several of them on the Hallmark Channel), it’s sometimes a surprise when one is actually OK.
Meteor canada
“An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) is based on the Louisa May Alcott book about a family on tough times in New Hampshire - the father is dead, the mother too proud to go to her own mother of means for help, the children caught in the middle so that an oldest daughter played by Tatiana Maslany writes to grandmother asking for help.
Jacqueline Bisset arrives, in all her finery, butts heads with the daughter but takes a liking to the granddaughter. And eventually, somehow, turkey is served.
Bisset makes a striking impression as the grandmother, the rest of the mostly Canadian cast does well, and Alcott beats 21st century TV writers in creating a family tale worth watching.
Soledad O’Brien goes down to New Orleans to check out the dire crime conditions in a city still struggling from Katrina, and a bunch of murders happen while she’s there. Her resulting “CNN Reports: One Crime at a Time” (CNN, 8 and 11 p.m.) concentrates on the new inspector general, district attorneys and police force trying to make a difference.
A new season starts for “Split Ends” (Style, 8 p.m.) in which hairdressers at differing salons nationwide switch places for a week. First off in this “Wife Swap” for hairstylists is Christian, a crossdresser from Worcester, switching places with a woman from a Kentucky salon where the cutters pray several times a day.
The 2007 special about a 67-year-old hadrosaur found in North Dakota with some soft tissue, “Dino Autopsy” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.) gets an update, as part of the channel’s Expedition Week.
Into the category of amusingly bad comes the TV movie “Lost City Raiders” (Sci Fi, 9 p.m.) which brings an environmental spin to the “Waterworld” story, exploring life 40 years from now, after the polar ice caps have long since melted, and most of the planet is under water. James Brolin and Ian Somerhaider star in a story about a salvage firm on hire by the Vatican to find treasures while in scuba suits. A lot of the action involves fights in futuristic bars.
Finales come for two shows on the Hee Haw channel, “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team” (CMT, 9:30 p.m.) and “My Big Redneck Wedding” (CMT, 9 p.m.).In premature holiday movies, there’s “This Christmas” (Starz, 9 p.m.), “The Santa Clause” (Disney, 9 p.m.), and “Once Upon a Christmas” (ABC Family, 8 p.m.) begets “Twice Upon a Christmas” (ABC Family, 10 p.m.).
“Austin City Limits” (WGBY, Channel 57, midnight) offers a hip double bill: Gnarls Barkley and Thievery Corporation.
Tonight’s college football includes Pittsburgh at Cincinnati (ESPN2, 7:15 p.m.), Florida State at Maryland (ESPN, 7:45 p.m.) and Texas tech at Oklahoma (ABC, 8 p.m.).
Also It’s Bruins at Canadiens (NESN, 7:30 p.m.) in hockey and Wizards at Knicks (CSN, MSG, 7;30 p.m.) and Clippers at Nets (YES, 7:30 p.m.) in the NBA.
Tim McGraw hosts a new “Saturday Night Live” (NBC, 11:30 p.m.) with artists of an incongruous genre performing: Ludacris and T-Pain.

Wii Games Hit The Bargain Bin Faster Than PS3, 360 Ones

the researchers at electronic entertainment design and…enquiry have been looking at console game sales patterns. looking at how long it takes a pastime to enter “price protection”, which is a stint familiar for when a publisher - having noticed a game isn’t selling very well - lowers the wholesale cost of a game so that retailers can keep it on the shelves at full price, still when the public are ignoring it. what they’ve found is that this practice occurs for 7.5% of 360 games. and 9.09% of ps3 games. but the wii? it happens for 15.1% of titles.
