Steel major Posco of South Korea has decided to start construction of a captive port in Orissa by early-2008, a year before actual work commences on its 12 million tonnes steel plant project in 2009.

Steel major Posco of South Korea has decided to start construction of a captive port in Orissa by early-2008, a year before actual work commences on its 12 million tonnes steel plant project in 2009. Preparatory work like raising of boundary walls and other structures is to commence in Oct 2007 while actual work on its Rs52,000 crore steel plant is expected to commence in 2009.
The company is concerned over opposition from villagers over its project.
