Affliction: Day of Reckoning Live Results and Analysis
I know I’ve been away for a few days, but I’m back and ready to watch history unfold. I’ll be liveblogging tonight’s undercard results and I believe Michael Fagan will take over for the main portion of the card. So, expect results for the ENTIRE event, which means spoilers.
So join me back at 7 p.m. EST here as well cover all the action. And don’t forget to hit that nifty Yahoo Buzz or Facebook button. We need your help to make this site a success.
Will Fedor continue to make history as the most dominant (heavyweight) fighter ever? Is tonight Andrei Arlovski’s official ascension to the top? We’ll find out tonight. See you in a few.
7:00 pm EST: And we’re about to kick things off. I’m watching this on my new television in HD and I have to say, HDNet is seriously undervalued. This is a must-have for any MMA fan who takes comprehensive understanding of the sport seriously. Hats off to HDNet, but quit ignoring bloggers on Inside MMA.
8:46 pm EST: The baton has been handed off, and you’re in the hands of Mike Fagan now. We’re enjoying the pre-fight hype show, which is surprisingly well done. Haven’t been paying 100% attention to it, but I haven’t seen any specific mention of Yvel’s checkered past. Also, during the undercard, the arena looked embarassingly empty. Hopefully Tom Atencio doesn’t have to eat crow.
9:10 pm EST: I like the Pride-influenced introductions to start, but does it have to look like a third-rate version? It does get me psyched, and this is a nice little card, especially when you consider the free undercard fights. Also, nice to see Scott Ferrall getting more work…
9:17 pm EST: Looks like we’ll get a nice look of hot babes at the fighter check-ins. Arena seemed to have filled up a bit, but there’s patches of empty seats all over.
Dan Lauzon vs. Bobby Green (lightweight)
Round 1: Herb Dean is our referee. We’ll see what Bobby Green’s “Hood” style brings into this fight. Green comes out aggressively, but Lauzon counters well. Good pace so far. Green corners Lauzon. Low kick lands high, and we have a stoppage for a groin strike. Lauzon appears to want to take the entire five minutes. Lauzon comes out with kicks and superman punch. Clinch leads to Green on top. Lauzon gives up his back, and Green suplexes him back to the mat. Green escapes a triangle after sloppy strikes and throws ground ‘n’ pound from the guard. Green gets up and calls Lauzon. Clinch again, knee from Green lands low again. Another groin strike from Green who is now complaining Lauzon is acting. Dean deducts two points from Green. Green ends up on top after a clinch and throws punches. Lauzon has a hold of a heel hook, but Green is defending well. Lauzon takes his back and locks on a choke. Green taps with less than ten seconds in the fight!
Dan Lauzon submits Bobby Green with a rear naked choke at 4:55 of round 1.
Paul Buentello vs. Kirill Sidellnikov
Round 1: Nice exchanges early. Sidellnikov definitely throws like his elder namesake. Clinch and the Russian moves Buentello into the corner. A minute exchange and they separate. Back into the corner and they trade positions. Overhand right lands from Sidellnikov. Right uppercut from Buentello lands. Jab landing over and over from the Texan. Good first round.
BloodyElbow.com scores the round 10-9 Buentello.
Round 2: Left hand lands for Buentello. And again. Jab continues to find its mark for Buentello. Buentello counters a leg kick with more strikes. Sidellnikov lands solid and follows up. Clinch in the corner. Left hook lands for Buentello. Single leg shot is stuffed by Buentello. Left hooks snaps back the Russians head. Buentello has Sidellnikov watching for the jab. The AKA fighter is just patiently landing at will.
Affliction results

Round 3: Buentello looks to be the fresher fighter at the start of the round. Both fighters trading body shots. Double jab from Buentello. Big uppercut lands for Buentello. Sidellnikov’s hair flying has become a familiar image in the fight. Wild strikes leads to Buentello taking the back. Fight ends up on the ground, and Buentello humps Sidellnikov and lets him back up. Stiff jab sends Sidellnikov reeling. McCa
