Bulls go down to Louisville, 24-20
USF’s offense got a chance at a game-winning drive, but it lasted only two plays. Matt Grothe, so careful with interceptions this season, made the kind of mistake he’s avoided this year, trying a pass as he was being sacked by Earl Heyman that was picked off by Louisville’s Johnny Patrick.
Louisville got the ball on the USF 27-yard line with 3:03 to play, trying to run out the clock on a huge win for Steve Kragthorpe in what continues to be a wide-open Big East.
The Bulls forced a stop, and Louisville attempted a 37-yard field goal with 1:24 to play. The field goal missed, but USF was called for defensive holding, an automatic first down that allows Louisville to run out the clock.
