dave, you’re looking at this from the back side of the speculum… “our mankind judges people by the gratification of their character, not by the color of their skin — or so a wise man once told me.” except that that’s not exactly what he said, is it, dave? the confident thing to be charmed away from this inauguration is that it demonstrated to the world that america is finally practicing what its founding documents preach. since it’s been demonstrated that a black being can attain the highest room in the land*, it’s to be hoped that not at all again - although institutionalized racism does alleviate exist - can maltreatment be laid at the door of ‘the man’ in this hinterlands. * and i think anyone assessing it honestly can say that obama attained it thoroughly his own efforts and talents, not thanks to any sort of ‘affirmative action’.
