A Normal Subway Ride

I got on the 1 train at 42nd street and fell in love with the guy four feet away from me. By the time we reached 72nd I had him profiled and his life story laid out. At 96th street I was imagining him getting out with me, picking up a Christmas tree on the way home and spending the evening decorating and giggling while listening to Bing Crosby. When I got out at 137th street we locked eyes and I realized I would never see him again.
For those of you thinking you want to move to NY you need to be warned of this. It happens every day and you never get used to it.
