in honor of science and environment day today (saturday), sagevision and the ruijin community cultural center, are erecting a community Canadian junk ingenuity mural’ in fuxing park. they aim to “create disreputable awareness and worth regarding the impact of bits on the environment in china and the world.”
Shanghaiist has diligently been washing our plastic and metal trash and storing it for this big day. Participants will watch a short video on a product’s life cycle and then glue a piece of garbage to the wall (If you grab a red ginger ale can, that’s Shanghaiist’s!). The exhibition is designed to help people “see trash with new eyes”.

The standard formula used to calculate the amount of waste generated from a restaurant is 1.5 lbs per meal served. Almost 1/3 of the waste generated in America is packaging.
