It takes about 5 minutes to craft a fun little blog that smears someone. In order to prove that its untrue, it takes countless hours of research. It appears that the left’s approach to this election is to just start throwing things against the wall and force the McCain camp to refute it. That way, there are bound to be at least one or two smearing rumors a day talked about over the water cooler, even if they are untrue. If someone accuses you of having an affair, for instance, is there a concrete way of disproving it? It just lingers. If someone says you smoked dope in college or did some other illegal activity, is there a way of proving to a suspicious electorate that it is just a false rumor?

NFL Week Three Predictions: More Big Games Ahead
These are my predictions for the third week of the season (winners underlined):
Kansas City at Atlanta
I have the Falcons winning this by a couple scores. Look for Michael Turner to have a big day. The Chiefs are in trouble; they are starting Tyler Thigpen, and that defense had a lot of trouble with a bad Raiders team last week.
Oakland at Buffalo
I like the Bills in this one. The Bills are my wild card pick this season. With Brady going down I like the Bills in the AFC East, not the Jets. Darren McFadden will not get the yardage he got against the Chiefs against a good Bills defense.
Tampa Bay at Chicago
The Bears don’t impress me. Their win in Indy aside, I think that their offense is just too weak and their defense is too old. I have the Bucs by a field goal.

Carolina at Minnesota
The Vikings are in a shambles after losing their first two games, and now they have questions at QB. I think that benching Tarvaris Jackson was the right thing to do, but the Vikings are pretty much done already. The Panthers win big.
Miami at New England
The loss of Brady is big, but wait a minute; the Patriots are still 2-0. They are bullet proof. They will stomp the Fins, and you can expect a big day for Maroney.
Cincinnati at New York Giants
I hate the Giants, but the Bengals are punch-less, so I have the Giants winning. Either way, it will be a sloppy game for both sides.
Houston at Tennessee
I think that a shot of experience is just what the Titans needed. Kerry Collins doesn’t lead a thrilling attack, but they will win with the ground game.
Arizona at Washington
These are two teams that always have high expectations, but never get it done. The Redskins will win, but probably on D.
New Orleans at Denver
Putting aside their controversial win last week, I think that the Broncos are back. The Saints will have trouble at Mile High.
Detroit at San Francisco
The Niners have a bad pass game, but who cares? The Lions are bad at everything. The Lions disappoint me; I always think that they will actually be mediocre, but they always stink.
St. Louis at Seattle
The Rams have serious issues; the Seahawks will take this one by three or more TD’s.
Cleveland at Baltimore
Baltimore can steal one here. They have played better than expected and the Browns are a little down right now.
Jacksonville at Indianapolis
Last week was a wakeup call for the Colts. They will win, but the Jags’ run game will put up some fireworks.
Pittsburgh at Philadelphia
This could be the game of the week. I actually don’t know who I like in this one. If it is low scoring it’s the Steelers, but lots of points will favor the Eagles.
Dallas at Green Bay
The Pack are at home so they will play well, but the Cowboys showed that they have grown up in that win on Monday Night Football.
New York Jets at San Diego
The Jets don’t impress me. For all that money they spent they have a bad win over Miami and a lackluster loss to the Patriots to show. On the other side, the Chargers are angry about their last two losses and they are looking for revenge.

TEL AVIV, (AFP) - Tzipi Livni, the newly elected leader of Israel's ruling Kadima party, faced the daunting task on Thursday of putting together a government to avert snap elections that could further slow the pace of Middle East peacemaking.

The 50-year-old foreign minister narrowly won a leadership vote to replace scandal-plagued Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who is standing down to battle a number of corruption allegations.
Livni secured 43.1 percent of the vote against her main rival Transport Minister and former army chief Shaul Mofaz's 42 percent, winning by just 431 votes, the central electoral commission said.
"I will start tomorrow to meet representatives of the other parties in the Knesset to a form a new coalition as quickly as possible in the face of the serious threats" the former Mossad spy said after her victory was confirmed.
Livni , who has been leading US-backed peace negotiations with the Palestinians, will have 42 days to form a government if she hopes to prevent an election that polls say would bring the right-wing Likud party to power.
"I will do my utmost not to disappoint you. I want to do what's best for the country," she said.
The election looks unlikely to end the political turmoil brought on by graft accusations against Olmert , as it remains uncertain whether Livni will be able to form a government and take over the premiership.
And the size of the task ahead was underscored when Eli Yishai, head of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party — which often plays the role of kingmaker — immediately laid down conditions for joining a Livni government.
He insisted there should be no negotiations on the future of Jerusalem and called for a big rise in family grants, something Livni has up to now rejected.
Olmert congratulated Livni and promised his "full cooperation" after exit polls showed her winning about 48 percent of the vote. Her lead diminished as the vote count continued into the night.
Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit and Public Security Minister Avi Dichter got 8.5 and 6 percent of the vote respectively.

SANAA (Reuters) - Two suicide car bombers set off a series of explosions outside the heavily fortified U.S. embassy in Yemen on Wednesday, killing 16 people, a Yemeni Interior Ministry official said.
The U.S. State Department said the bombings bore "all the hallmarks" of an al Qaeda attack but the United States had not yet concluded who was to blame.

Islamic Jihad in Yemen, a group some Yemeni analysts say is linked to al Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack, in which other militants armed with assault rifles and rocket propelled grenades tried to storm the embassy.
"We, the organization of Islamic Jihad in Yemen declare our responsibility for the suicide attack on the American embassy in Sanaa," Islamic Jihad said in a statement, adding it will carry out more attacks in the future.
Among the dead were six attackers and four bystanders. The rest were Yemeni security personnel, including one embassy guard. All the dead were Yemeni, with the exception of one Indian woman who was walking past when the attack happened, the official added.
In Washington, State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid said all the embassy staff were safe. The embassy and its consular section were closed following the attack.
U.S. President George W. Bush said the attackers were trying to make the United States "lose our nerve and to withdraw from regions of the world."
"This attack is a reminder that we are at war with extremists who will murder innocent people to achieve their ideological objectives," said Bush, with the outgoing U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, at his side.
When asked which group was suspected in the attack, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said: "After talking to the security personnel, the attack bears all the hallmarks of an al Qaeda attack where you have multiple vehicle-borne devices."
Some Yemeni analysts say Islamic Jihad, which is unrelated to a Palestinian group with the same name, is linked to al Qaeda but this has not been clearly shown to be the case.
TRYING TO STORM EMBASSY
Details of the assault remained hazy. But the Yemeni Interior Ministry official said the suicide attackers had tried to break through the heavily guarded gates of the embassy with their cars but had failed, and that the building was not seriously damaged.
McCormack said that one car bomb exploded at a guard's post outside the embassy and the second near a pedestrian entrance. Several attackers were seen on foot and the goal appeared to be to breach the wall of the embassy complex and to kill people

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The mother of Titans quarterback Vince Young said he indicated he doesn’t want to play football and is “hurting inside and out.”
Felicia Young said in Wednesday editions of The Tennessean that her son is tired of all the negativity he’s faced after being booed during a 17-10 win Sunday over Jacksonville. On Monday, Titans coach Jeff Fisher called police to help find him.
“What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?” Felicia Young said “He may not want to deal with it (all), but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first.
“But we’re not talking about football right now. We’re talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing.”
The phone number for Young’s home is unlisted, and his agent, Major Adams, did not answer his cell phone Wednesday morning. The Titans did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.
This isn’t the first time that Young has talked of wanting to quit football. He told a reporter last spring that he thought of retiring after his rookie season, a statement he said later was taken out of context.
The No. 3 pick overall in the 2006 draft, Young won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and followed up by helping the Titans reach the playoffs last season with a 10-6 record. He has been criticized for his passing struggles, with nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 2007.
His mental state has been in question since being booed Sunday after his second interception during the Jacksonville game. He didn’t want to go back into the game until prodded by Fisher.
He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee four plays later and could be out for up to four weeks. Fisher said Tuesday night he is only ruling Young out for Sunday’s game at Cincinnati.
Young didn’t go to the team’s offices Monday and postponed his MRI exam until Tuesday. He met with a psychologist at his home Monday along with Fisher and another team official.
