DeLauro’s Equal Pay Bill Put Off a While

Rep. Rosa DeLauro.jpgAs the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act sailed through the Senate last night on its way to President Barack Obama’s desk, it left behind a companion bill authored by Rep. Rosa DeLauro — the Paycheck Fairness Act.

The two related bills — both dealing with equal-pay issues for women — had flown through the House as a package deal. In the Senate, Ledbetter found traction while DeLauro’s effort(actually a companion bill introduced in the Senate by then-Sen. Hillary Clinton) apparently won’t come around again until the spring, according to DeLauro’s staff.

We had reported earlier that DeLauro’s bill may have been one of the first signed by the new president, but it looks like that won’t be the case now.

[DeLauro has been working on this for years, so I guess a couple of months might not make much difference.]
