Sunday, Nov. 30, 9:30 a.m.: First Sunday of Advent, the candle of Hope is lit; 10:45 a.m.: Alternative Christmas market, 11a.m.: Advent Bible study, scripture in Handel’s “Messiah”
Saturday, Dec. 6, 5 p.m.: Potluck supper and Advent Crafts Workshop
Sunday, Dec. 7, 9:30 a.m.: Second Sunday of Advent, the candle of Peace is lit; 10:45 a.m.: Alternative Christmas market; 11a.m.: Advent Bible study, scripture in Handel’s “Messiah”
Sunday, Dec. 14, 9:30 a.m.: Third Sunday of Advent, the candle of Joy is lit; 10:45 a.m.: Alternative Christmas market; 11a.m.: Advent Bible study, scripture in Handel’s “Messiah;” 5 p.m.: Christmas concert

‘dreidels and donuts’: hanukkah song and story hour
Get ready for Hanukkah with “Dreidels and Donuts,” a free Hanukkah song and story hour at the Peabody Institute Library, 15 Sylvan St., on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 5 p.m.
The free “Dreidels and Donuts” program will feature songs, stories and jelly donuts. It is an opportunity for families with children age 8 and under to get ready to celebrate the Hanukkah holiday and to meet other Jewish and interfaith families in their local communities. All those attending will receive a small Hanukkah gift.
This free program is geared at children ages 8 and under and is provided free by the Robert I. Lappin Charitable Foundation, which sponsors programs that are helping to keep Jewish children Jewish. For more information or to RSVP, contact Phyllis Osher, 978-740-4410 or e-mail posher@rilcf.org. RSVP recommended, but not required. Walk-ins welcome.
maple street church christmas concert
The Maple Eves women’s group of Maple Street Church in Danvers will sponsor a Christmas Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the church, 90 Maple St., as their December meeting. The local Star Singers musical group, with Kathy Gross directing, will perform in the sanctuary of the church. Priscilla Curda and Grace Phinney will serve refreshments in the Reception Room following the concert. Guests are most welcome.
