Bush slams Hamas, and other goodies
President George W. Bush on Friday said the Hamas rocket attacks on Israel are “act of terror.” Bush also said, “Another one-way cease-fire that leads to rocket attacks on Israel is not acceptable. And promises from Hamas will not suffice — there must be monitoring mechanisms in place to help ensure that smuggling of weapons to terrorist groups in Gaza comes to an end.” (Fox) Better late than never, Bush finally speaks up for Israel.
President Bush accused the Palestinian militant group Hamas of provoking Israeli military action with rocket attacks and increasing the death toll by secreting its arms within civilian populations. Bush said, “This recent outburst of violence was instigated by Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group supported by Iran and Syria that calls for Israel’s destruction,…” (Washington Post)Hamas’s top leader warned Israel its army would be defeated if it invaded the Gaza Strip, while the United States said it envisioned a ceasefire with international monitoring that would ensure the Islamist group could not rearm. (Reuters) First, Hamas will not defeat Israel if Israel decides they want to actually win. Second, there will be no international monitoring that would ensure Hamas cannot rearm. There is no such body. Exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal said from Damascus said, “If you commit a foolish act by raiding Gaza, who knows, we may have a second or a third or a fourth Shalit.” Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas in a cross-border raid more than two years ago. (Fox) That is how the terrorist enemy of Israel and America work — they kidnap soldiers and use them for ransom or in exchange for hundreds of their fellow terrorists held by Israel. However, Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of one of the group’s founding members, said “There is no chance. Is there any chance for fire to co-exist with the water?”
“It’s not about Israel, it’s not about Hamas: it’s about both ideologies.”
Yousef, son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, one of the most influential leaders of the militant group, said the organization betrays the Palestinian cause and tortures its own members. [snip]
Yousef said he was indoctrinated at an early age to use violence to challenge Israeli control in the region. As a teenager he moved up within the organization and became the leader of the radical Islamic Youth Movement that fought Israeli tanks and troops in the streets, celebrated suicide bombings and recruited young men to the cause.
Yousef, 30, said he realized the true nature of Hamas and radical Islam during a stint in an Israeli prison. He renounced his Muslim faith, left his family behind in Ramallah and converted to Christianity.
“Islam is not the word of God,” said Yousef. “If you want to be offended it’s your problem. But you know something? Go study. Think for a second that I might be right. So wake up, look at your path, see where you’re going. Are you really going to heaven with 72 virgins after you kill yourself and kill another 20 people?”
