KOREATOWN: Making Wilshire and Western look as bright as Tuscon, renderings emerged of the retail component/sidewalk area around Solair.
VENICE: Pony up, Venice. New parking slots and new meters aka pay stations are coming to the alleys between Abbot Kinney and Electric Avenue.
HOLLYWOOD: Slowdown in Hollywood as work on Madrone, that 180-unit condominium development at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea Ave, is paused.
LOS ANGELES: Assemblymen/superhero Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles) introduced legislation that would put a two-year moratorium on the construction and/or conversion of new digital billboards. Meanwhile, a reader sent in evidence that Clear Channel may already be breaking that current three-month moratorium. UPDATE: Per this LA Times story, maybe they already had the permit. “Exempted from the ban are companies that already have started construction of signs that have received city permits.” Who can keep track? DOWNTOWN: A park for the people. That shiny Johnson Fain-designed tower that was planned for 4th and Spring streets will die so a park can be born.
LA CANADA: It was a home that we’d be tracking for a while, and architect John Lautner’s Gantvoort Residence in La Canada Flintridge, which underwent numerous pricechops, finally sold this month for $1.525 million.
