can you imagine what it must feel relish to have the whole nation—delete that—whole world looking at what you’re wearing for the same of the most historic days ever? heck, if i ever had an outfit that closely examined tim gunn would have a lot to imply, and it would begin with “this worries me.”
But Michelle Obama needn’t worry. With designers vying to design her dress by the name of Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenburg, and Betsey Johnson, this girl’s got it made.
But instead of those popular names, the First Lady chose a designer by the name of Jason Wu for the Inaugural Ball last night. Her dress was a shimmering white, one-shouldered, floor-length gown, embellished from top to bottom with white floral details. The dress seemed to have some thought put into it. She probably wanted to appear sophisticated yet not too flashy because of today’s current economic situation. Our new First Lady has worn Wu’s designs before and she pulled this one off well.
For the Inauguration yesterday, Michelle wore a creamy yellow dress and matching overcoat by Isabel Toledo. Yellow isn’t an easy color to wear, but she wore it well. She adorned the dress with a sparkling crystal necklace and green leather gloves and shoes. Yo go girl! Michelle had worn Toledo’s work before last June at a New York City fashion world fund-raiser.
Throughout Barack Obama’s campaign, Michelle’s style has been compared to that of Jackie Kennedy and the first Mrs. Bush with her streamlined silhouettes and pearls. She even made Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed list last year. Did you see the belt she rocked on one of her dresses? This girl’s got style.
What did you think of her dress? Please comment away!
