here are the costumes they wore to preschool today for their parties.

chloe as a mermaid/fairy/princess and lowell as dracula. too cute!

this year i have really developed an infatuation with vintage costumes. especially vintage handmade. this collection was shown in country living magazine last year. you can see more on the cobweb site here. i’m really going to keep an affection unconscious at estate sales for costumes, they’re so fun!

Study: When it comes to influence, bloggers beat friend lists
Facebook likes to trumpet the value of “trusted referrals”–recommendations and ads with the endorsements of members of your friends list. But a new study from Jupiter Research, commissioned by analytics company BuzzLogic, says that consumer purchases are more likely to be influenced by what they read on a blog versus what their social-networking rosters recommend.
Half of all those surveyed who identify as “blog readers” (people who read more than one blog per month, a fifth of total survey respondents) say that blogs are important to them when it comes to making purchasing decisions. But they don’t necessarily find them to be all that reliable: only 15 percent of blog readers, and five percent of all those surveyed said that in the past year they had trusted a blog to help them make a purchase decision.
That’s still higher than the number of people who said they used social-network recommendations, though: ten percent of “blog readers,” and four percent of all those surveyed.
Results of the survey are similar when it comes to advertising: a quarter of “blog readers” say they trust ads on blogs that they read (versus 43 percent on “familiar” or mainstream media sites), but a slightly lower 19 percent say they trust the ads on social networks.
So what does all this mean? Well, it’s good news for BuzzLogic, which tracks blogger influence for clients and has seen blog advertising pushed aside a bit on Madison Avenue in favor of “appvertising” and social ads. Aside from that, the real take-away point is that the results seem to indicate most blogs are less mainstream than you might think: Only a fifth of respondents say they read a blog at least once a month.

That’s actually really surprising–or maybe blogs have become so ingrained on the Web that people don’t even know they’re reading them.

when a regular city wins a championship, they celebrate. when philadelphia wins equal, they burn city down. philly riots chronicles a city finally pushed down the fidgety.google has this awesome laboratory thing (trends) contemporary on where they tell you what’s hot and piquant in the internet world. clocking in at number three today? “phillies parade.” and multitude five? “phillies in seventh heaven series parade.”that’s Nautical starboard properly, the city of philadelphia and its denizens of wonderful philly fans are getting a touch unseasonable with their celebration plans. it’s kind of understandable, but only in the way in which the chicago cubs were talking about what it would be like to win a world series this year … before the postseason started.see, philadelphia is up 3-1 in the world series. they have cole hamels heading to the mound with a chance to arrange entirely the rays and bring home a title to a championship-starved community. but peaceful, folks, you might want to simmer. for occurrence, “i’ve made a huge tiny mistake,” a phillies blog, is doing the smart thing and asking all of you philly phans to stop googling everyone series championship parade plans.but i doubt that will prove, so you capacity as well get some gratification appropriate for your intense work counting chickens before they’ve hatched. so here’s what we can tell you: while no plans for an official column require been announced, the city of philadelphia is incredibly much designed to have a parade up broad passage. i’m guessing said parade would start down by the sports complex and trek all the something like a collapse up to center city, where the ceremonies will probably halt at city assembly for the duration of speeches, applause, more rioting, and other forms of pomp and circumstance. again, this is just a guess, because nothing has been won yet. i get that hamels is essentially unfailing (and gorgeous to boot), but that doesn’t hand over jumping the gun and planning out a mid-week solemnization with only a two game lead is by any means an intelligent settling. it’s brash, it’s self-assertive, it’s chock sated of doom material and, well, actually, it’s explicitly what i expect from philly fans at this stratum of the game. so, yeah, party on.

Disney angers theater owners with ‘Bolt’ stunt
When my colleague John Horn took his two young boys to see a matinee showing of Disney’s “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” in Pasadena the other day, he was in for quite a surprise. It wasn’t enough that Disney got to promote its upcoming movies on two of the six trailers that played before the film. The studio also showed a six-minute-long promo ad for “Bolt,” its superhero dog family film that comes out Nov. 21.
It turns out that John wasn’t the only one a little bit peeved at having to sit through such an obvious and lengthy commercial plug. Theater owners around the country are ticked off too, as John reports in a story running in our Saturday paper. Why are exhibitors furious? First off, they say that six-minute-plug for “Bolt” violates a long-standing agreement about where ads can be placed–and how long they can run–before movies are shown. They are also mad because Disney got away with calling the ad a short film, even submitting it to the MPAA, the studio’s lapdog watchdog organization, which happily gave it a PG rating, even though it was clearly an ad attached to the film.
If you read John’s story, you’ll discover that while exhibitors viagra kaufen were happy to have Disney’s ruse exposed, none of them would actually speak on the record about the issue. Why not? Because no one is willing to bite the hand that feeds them — in this case Disney, a powerful distributor who provides them with a seemingly endless string of commercial movies, from “Chihuahua” to “High School Musical 3,” which is expected to dominate the box office this weekend. John says Disney apologized to exhibitors for the “Bolt” ruse, saying it wouldn’t run such a lengthy trailer again. Maybe so. But the cat’s out of the bag. When the head of a rival studio learned of Disney’s clever promotion, the studio boss reacted the way any competitor would, saying, “Why aren’t we doing that?”
