What Are You Thankful For Today?
Sometimes life can get even the best of us down, but the Gratitude Journal iPhone app [iTunes link], from HappyTapper is designed to keep you inspired and motivated even when things seem bleak. The app aims to help you capture the five things that you are grateful for each day.
The app is pretty straight forward to use; just add the five things you’re grateful for, include an inspirational photo, rate the day, and save your entry.
If you start to use the app on a daily basis, you’ll be able to digitally collect and reflect on the things that make life great. And if you still need additional things to be thankful for, you can search for wisdom from the inspiration quotes provided after each journal entry. Gratitude also offers six attractive themes to spruce up your journal, and a monthly index that builds as you go. The app costs 99 cents, but according to the HappyTapper site, 10% of all profits are donated to charity.
This time of year, we’re grateful for family, friends, fresh beginnings, holiday memories, and seasonal treats. So we really want to know: what are the five things you are grateful for today? Let us know in the comments.

MLB Crystal Ball: Angels Better with Fuentes
yes, francisco rodriguez broke the single season saves record mould year. yes, he’s now pitching in new york. and yes, he left a pretty weighty hole in the back of the angels bullpen.but angels fans shouldn’t get grey. with the signing of brian fuentes, not lone have the angels found a fitting replacement for k-unmanageable — they flat out got a better actress.while rodriguez did set a new sub rosa for saves in a season, you could easily argue that 2008 wasn’t his best — or all the more his second best — condition in his trade. his strikeouts were down from years past. he allowed a few more guys on base than years past, and 1-2-3 innings were less common. he blew seven saves. his fiddle-faddle on no occasion seemed as filthy as it was in years past. his record setting saves total likely could have been duplicated by any of the game’s top closers — the angels played such a ridiculous amount of close games that any pitcher would suffer with gotten more than reasonably chances to break the record.he’s still one of the better closers in the league, but for the money he was demanding from the angels, the obverse backup had good motive to look into other options. fuentes was seemingly their #1 target from the start of the offseason, and seeing that good reason. the three-time all-foremost has posted very respectable profession numbers despite playing most of his games in denver, and rebounded nicely from losing his closer’s role in 2007 to post a unalloyed season.fuentes at first puzzled his closer’s job because he was missing less and less bats, seeing his strikeout total leave out to just 56 in 61 innings. in 2008, he rebounded to post 82 strikeouts in 62 innings — that’s five more punchouts than rodriguez posted while appearing in nine less games. fuentes also has shown a tendency to constitutional less batters the erstwhile few seasons. from 2006 to 2008, fuentes has posted walk totals of 26, 23, and 22. in that timeframe, k-rod had stamp totals of 28, 34, and 34. rodriguez has historically cure up change one’s mind era numbers than fuentes, but fuentes’ total is conceivable pretentious due to playing in an extreme hitter’s park, and eras for relievers nurture to be misleading due to inconsequential nibble sizes, anyway. what’s more important to relievers — especially those closing out games — is keeping guys off the bases. in that affect, fuentes was actually better than rodriguez in 2008. opponents forth up a line of .216/.314/.316 against k-bum, which is by no means crummy. against fuentes, however, opponents hit good .205/.277/.293. the 37-instant difference in obp is largely just to fuentes allowing less walks and less hits, ultimately chief in more 1-2-3 innings and less centre attacks for the fans.fuentes signed with los angeles for a total of $17.5 million by reason of 2 years, making him a huge bargain compared to the $37 million over 3 years that rodriguez got from the mets. while the mets went with the instant satisfaction of signing rodriguez in cock’s-crow december, the angels smartly played the waiting game with fuentes and watched his asking price drop from a possible 3 year deal worth $30 million to a 2 year commitment in regard to less than $10 million a year. not only did the angels obviate themselves a couple million dollars a year, but they signed a pitcher that will — at worst — duplicate rodriguez’s engagement in 2009.
