Americans want strong, decisive, effective leadership — especially in troubled times.
The new year of 2009 calls for extraordinary efforts by the people elected to federal, state and local offices. Here are a few words of encouragement for those leaders.
For Barack Obama: Govern as well as you campaigned, calling for unity rather than division. Inspire others to promote common interests, not their own. Follow your principles but draw ideas and strategies from all sources, regardless thriller movies of party politics. If one plan fails, don’t be afraid to try another.
